Which electric motor is suitable for your application?
At Jumatra you will find electric motors from 0.06 to 500 kW, including models from WEG, CEMER and RAEL. You select the correct electric motor based on power, speed, efficiency class and construction type. Are you replacing an existing motor? Then check the type plate and also compare the power supply voltage, mounting dimensions and shaft diameter. This will prevent a new motor from being mechanically or electrically incompatible.
Choose an IE2, IE3 or IE4 electric motor?
The energy efficiency class determines in part how much electricity your motor consumes. IE2 electric motors have a lower efficiency than comparable IE3 and IE4 motors. IE3 motors offer a higher efficiency, while IE4 motors are even more energy-efficient. Especially with long-term use, a higher efficiency class can reduce energy costs. When choosing, also take into account the applicable European efficiency requirements.
Pay attention to the speed and design of the construction
In addition to power, speed is also crucial for the drive system. At a mains frequency of 50 Hz, two-pole motors typically run at around 3,000 RPM and four-pole motors at around 1,500 RPM, depending on load and motor slip. Additionally, check the construction: B3 for foot mounting, B5 for flange mounting and B14 for a smaller flange connection. B35 combines foot and flange mounting.
Combining the electric motor with other drive components
Do you want to control the speed variable? Then combine your electric motor with a suitable one. frequency drive and matching motor cable For applications where the drive has to be held or braked, you will also find brake motors.
What power does your electric motor need?
The required power of an electric motor is expressed in kilowatts (kW) and depends on the load, the speed and the required torque. For lighter applications, such as small fans and conveyor belts, a electric motor up to 5.5 kW Suitable for heavier drives, such as industrial pumps and machines, you can look at motors up to 11 kW or electric motors up to 22 kW. The correct power always depends on the specific application. Choose an engine with sufficient power for the load, but avoid unnecessary overdimensioning. This ensures a reliable and energy-efficient drive.
